The Blasket Centre in Dún Chaoin, at the western end of the Dingle Peninsula, celebrates the Irish language, literary achievements, and the distinctive character of the people who once lived on this isolated island community off the Kerry coast which has been deserted since 1953.
Arts & Crafts: The area is rich with art galleries and renowned for its crystal, pottery, clothing, and jewellery making it a shoppers paradise. These include the famous 'Louis Mulcahy' who has been potting for thirty years. His pottery is now one of the last big ones working in the traditional fashion and his pots are exported all over the world. The workshop includes a visitor room offering hands on experience of the pottery making, with a professional potter in attendance, together with explanations of the forming techniques and the glazing and firing processes.
